President

Nina Gulbransen

Nina (she/her) is a senior from Boca Raton, FL studying Political Science in the BA/MA program, where her thesis focuses on innovative post-2020 voter suppression in the South. Nina is thrilled to serve as President, having been a member for her entire time at BU and having previously served as Secretary for two years. In addition to running Dems, she currently serves as Captain of the Boston University Women’s Tennis Team, Deputy Director of Social Advocacy for BU Student Government, and has been tapped for induction into the BU Scarlet Key Honor Society for her dedication to community building at BU. She enjoys hiking with her husband Carlos and nature photography in her free time. Nina has mobilized for various nonprofits like Her Bold Move and The Borgen Project, and aims to work in public policy post-graduation. This past summer she interned in D.C. for Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA-06) and wrote for the Boston Political Review, after concluding a year-long internship with the City of Boston Mayor’s Disabilities Commission in conjunction with the  Boston Parks and Recreation Department. 

Vice-President

Gretchen Fuller

Gretchen Fuller is a junior studying Film and Television and Political Science. She is originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Outside of BU Dems, she interns with the Public Interest Network. In her free time, she likes going to see movies and watch hockey. 

Treasurer

Sean Waddington

Sean (he/him) is a senior studying Political Science and Sociology. Having served in various e-board positions, he is excited to return to the Treasurer position in his final semester. Through BUCD, Sean has had the opportunity to lead canvasses and phone banks, moderate events with high-profile speakers, and organize civic action on issues like gun control, divestment, and worker’s rights. Sean has been a part of major electoral gains in New York politics from as young as 17. He helped elect Samra Brouk to the State Senate in 2020, flipping his Upstate NY district and securing a Democratic supermajority in the legislature’s upper chamber. He returned to the campaign as a staffer in 2022, where he helped prove that progressives can win upstate, deliver results, and hold their seats. In 2023, Sean worked as the Policy Fellow for City Councilor Kendra Lara, managing a portfolio of municipal policies. He currently works for Representative Erika Uyterhoeven of the 27th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts General Court.

Secretary

Rae Ruane

Rae Ruane is a sophomore studying Film and Television and minoring in Myth Studies. She is originally from Los Osos, California and has always been passionate about politics and social justice. Leading up to the recent presidential election, Rae spent many hours with BUCD letter writing, canvassing in New Hampshire, and tabling around BU campus to encourage students to register to vote. In her free time, she likes to bake and go on walks around Boston.
